Overview

The Effects tab in PeachDesk Voice Studio lets you apply professional-grade audio processing to any clip you generate. Effects run on Bibha’s audio engine in the cloud, so there’s nothing to install — you pick effects, preview them in the browser, and save the result as a new versioned take. Key concepts:
  • Effects Chain — An ordered list of effects applied one after another to a clip.
  • Take (Version) — A processed variant of a generation. Each take has its own audio and its own effects chain.
  • Preset — A saved effects chain you can reuse across clips (built-in or your own).
  • Clean take — The original, unprocessed generation. It’s always preserved so you can revert at any time.
How it works:
1

Generate or pick a clip

Generate speech in the Generation tab, or select an existing clip from your history.
2

Build an effects chain

Open the Effects tab, add one or more effects, and adjust their parameters.
3

Preview

Listen to the processed audio in the browser before committing — no take is saved during preview.
4

Apply

Save the processed result as a new take. Your clean take stays untouched.
Each generation keeps a clean take plus any number of processed takes, each with a different effects chain.

Effect types

The following effects are available, each with configurable parameters.

Chorus / Flanger

Modulated delay effect. A short centre delay gives a flanger sound; a longer one gives a chorus. Parameters:
  • rate_hz — LFO speed in Hz (range: 0.01 to 20, default: 1.0)
  • depth — Modulation depth (range: 0.0 to 1.0, default: 0.5)
  • feedback — Feedback amount (range: 0.0 to 0.95, default: 0.0)
  • centre_delay_ms — Centre delay in milliseconds (range: 0.5 to 50, default: 7.0)
  • mix — Wet/dry mix (range: 0.0 to 1.0, default: 0.5)

Reverb

Room reverb effect. Parameters:
  • room_size — Room size (range: 0.0 to 1.0, default: 0.5)
  • damping — High-frequency damping (range: 0.0 to 1.0, default: 0.5)
  • wet_level — Wet level (range: 0.0 to 1.0, default: 0.33)
  • dry_level — Dry level (range: 0.0 to 1.0, default: 0.4)
  • width — Stereo width (range: 0.0 to 1.0, default: 1.0)

Delay

Echo / delay line. Parameters:
  • delay_seconds — Delay time in seconds (range: 0.01 to 2.0, default: 0.3)
  • feedback — Feedback amount (range: 0.0 to 0.95, default: 0.3)
  • mix — Wet/dry mix (range: 0.0 to 1.0, default: 0.3)

Compressor

Dynamic range compression for consistent loudness. Parameters:
  • threshold_db — Threshold in dB (range: -60 to 0, default: -20.0)
  • ratio — Compression ratio (range: 1.0 to 20.0, default: 4.0)
  • attack_ms — Attack time in ms (range: 0.1 to 100, default: 10.0)
  • release_ms — Release time in ms (range: 10 to 1000, default: 100.0)

Gain

Volume adjustment in decibels. Parameters:
  • gain_db — Gain in dB (range: -40 to 40, default: 0.0)

High-Pass Filter

Removes frequencies below the cutoff. Parameters:
  • cutoff_frequency_hz — Cutoff frequency in Hz (range: 20 to 8000, default: 80.0)

Low-Pass Filter

Removes frequencies above the cutoff. Parameters:
  • cutoff_frequency_hz — Cutoff frequency in Hz (range: 200 to 20000, default: 8000.0)

Pitch Shift

Shift pitch up or down by semitones. Parameters:
  • semitones — Semitones to shift (range: -12 to 12, default: 0.0)

Takes (versions)

Every generation starts as a single clean take with no effects. When you apply an effects chain, Voice Studio creates a new take alongside it. Each take has:
  • A label you choose (for example, “robotic” or “with reverb”)
  • Its own processed audio
  • The effects chain used to create it
  • A reference to the take it was derived from
  • A default flag
One take per generation is marked as the default — that’s the audio used when you play, export, or add the clip to a Story. Set any take as the default from the take selector. If you delete the default take, another take is automatically promoted.
Takes are stored securely in your PeachDesk workspace in the cloud, scoped to your tenant. There are no local files to manage.

Presets

Presets are saved effects chains you can apply to any clip with a single click. Built-in presets:

Robotic

Metallic robotic voice using a flanger-style chorus.

Radio

Thin AM-radio voice with band-pass filtering and light compression.

Echo Chamber

Spacious reverb with a trailing echo.

Deep Voice

Lower pitch with added warmth using pitch shift and compression.
Your presets:
  • Create your own preset from any effects chain in the Effects panel.
  • Saved presets live in your workspace and are available wherever you sign in.
  • Built-in presets can’t be modified or deleted, but you can duplicate one as a starting point for your own.

Best practices

Effect order matters. For the most natural results, arrange your chain in this order:
  1. Pitch shift (if needed)
  2. High / low-pass filters
  3. Chorus / flanger (time-based)
  4. Reverb / delay (spatial)
  5. Compressor
  6. Gain (final level adjustment)
Always preview a complex chain before applying it. Preview is instant and doesn’t create a take, so you can experiment freely until it sounds right.
Keep things tidy. Each take you apply is saved as a separate audio file. The clean take always exists and can be reverted to, and you can delete processed takes you no longer need.
Deleted takes cannot be recovered. The clean take is always preserved, but a processed take’s audio is gone once removed — re-apply its effects chain if you need it back.
