Overview

Audio channels let you group voice profiles into named output buses inside PeachDesk Voice Studio. Instead of every generation landing in one undifferentiated stream, you can route different voices to different channels тАФ keeping a narrator separate from supporting characters, or splitting a projectтАЩs dialogue from its sound design. Because Voice Studio runs in your browser inside the PeachDesk dashboard, channels are an organizational layer in your workspace, not a binding to specific hardware on your machine. They travel with your account, so the same setup is available wherever you sign in.
Channels are scoped to your workspace. Each tenant gets its own set of channels, and the voice profiles assigned to them, completely isolated from other accounts.

Core concepts

Channel

A named output bus. Voices assigned to a channel are grouped together for playback, mixing, and export.

Voice profile

A voice you generate with тАФ either a Clone from audio profile or a Built-in voice from the Voices tab.

Assignment

The many-to-many link between profiles and channels. One voice can belong to several channels, and one channel can hold many voices.

The default channel

Every workspace starts with a single Default channel. When you first generate audio or create a voice profile, it is assigned to Default automatically, so there is nothing to configure to get started.
The Default channel cannot be renamed or deleted. It always exists as a fallback so that every voice profile has at least one channel to play through.

Managing channels

You manage channels from the Settings tab in Voice Studio.
1

Open Settings

From the PeachDesk dashboard, open Voice Studio and go to the Settings tab, then choose Audio Channels.
2

Create a channel

Select New Channel, give it a unique name (for example, Narration or Characters), and save. Names must be unique within your workspace.
3

Assign voices

Open the channel and pick the voice profiles that should play through it. A profile can be assigned to more than one channel.
4

Use it in Generation

In the Generation tab, the channel a voice belongs to determines how its output is grouped when you preview, mix, or export takes.

Editing and deleting

  • Rename a channel at any time from its detail panel.
  • Reassign voices by adding or removing profiles тАФ changes apply to new generations immediately.
  • Delete a channel you no longer need. Any voice profiles that were only assigned to that channel fall back to the Default channel, so no audio is ever orphaned.
The Default channel is protected. Attempts to rename or delete it are rejected тАФ create additional channels for your custom routing instead.

Voice assignment

Assignment is many-to-many, and you can manage it from either direction:
  • From a channel тАФ open the channel and select which voice profiles belong to it. This is the fastest way to set up a channel that groups several voices.
  • From a voice profile тАФ open a profile in the Voices tab and choose which channels it should play through. This is handy when a single narrator needs to appear in multiple channels at once.
Setting an assignment replaces the previous list for that side of the relationship, so the picker always reflects the current, complete set.

Use cases

Create a Narration channel for your narrator profile and a Characters channel for your character voices. Assign the narrator to both if you want it audible in every mix, and keep the character voices in Characters only. When you export, each channel can be handled as its own group.
Keep an experimental Scratch channel for voices you are still tuning, and a Final channel for approved profiles. This keeps in-progress work from mixing into your finished takes.
Pair channels with the Effects tab. Group the voices that should receive a particular effect chain into one channel, then apply effects as versioned takes to that group.
Because models run on PeachDeskтАЩs GPU infrastructure, there is nothing to install and no audio drivers to configure. You select an engine and voice from the dropdowns in the Generation tab, and the channel simply organizes where that output is grouped.

Behaviour and limits

  • The Default channel cannot be modified or deleted.
  • Channel names must be unique within a workspace.
  • Deleting a channel never deletes voices тАФ affected profiles fall back to Default.
  • Channels are a workspace-level organization feature; playback always happens through your browserтАЩs standard audio output. There is no per-channel hardware device routing in the hosted web app.

Voices

Create Clone from audio and Built-in voice profiles to assign to channels.

Effects

Apply versioned takes to the voices grouped in a channel.
